Our Preschool Reading List “The Magic of Autumn”

Preschool Reading List “The Magic of Autumn”

Every month I select a theme, a specific topic to talk about during the entire month. After the topic has been decided I then plan out our lessons, books, and activities around it.

Our current preschool theme is “The Magic of Autumn” with every theme that I create I love introducing fun, bright, descriptive and vibrant reads to my boys. Since they can’t read yet, I love showing them how magical reading can be, how one book can transport you to new places and exciting adventures.

This list of books will have your little readers learn all about the wonders of Autumn, the beauty in leaves changing color, the crisp air, all about Halloween, but most importantly about, giving, family and gratitude. The text is simplistic enough to hold your little readers’ attention and the illustrations are colorful and engaging. CONTINUE READING!

Homeschooling While Keeping a Tidy Home

“I hope to teach my children our values and not the governments, to never stop learning, to read as many books as they can and to truly see the beauty in learning something new every day.”

I am fairly new to homeschooling and as I mentioned on my Instagram we are learning through play and growing together as we go. I added a new set of series on my top menu and one of them is titled “Homeschool” there you will be able to easily locate free-printables like my free ABC Flash Cards, lesson plans, monthly themes, our current reading list + more. So I put together this blog post to answer some common questions I get asked a lot like. CONTINUE READING!

Pan Roasted Garlic + Rosemary Tomatoes
Pan Roasted Garlic + Rosemary Tomatoes

Hi friends! I have been raving about roasting tomatoes for a while now, and the pan roasting method I am going to show you is glorious because not only is it quick and simple to make but it brings out the most exquisite, almost perfect caramelized sweetness in the tomatoes you will love + herbs really complement the juicy, sweet tomatoes.

These pan roasted tomatoes with herbs are excellent served warm with dinner, and any leftovers can be reheated + extremely tasty at room temperature when added to a salad!

I Am More Than Just A Mom.

“Your art is not about how many people like your work,  your art is about if your heart likes your work. It’s about if your soul likes your work, it’s about how honest you are with yourself and you must never trade honesty for relatability.” from ‘Milk and Honey’

Lately, I have been feeling like I am drowning in life, with the kids, chores, endless to do’s and wife duties. I am having trouble finding the balance between everything that is currently on my plate. I have been feeling like I don’t have enough time for me, time to do the things I love to do. I love my boys, I love my husband and I love dedicating my entire life to them. I feel so blessed and I truly do love my life. But sometimes I wish time would sit still to be able to take off my mom hat just for a second and just sit there and breathe. Somedays I wake up to the smell of delicious pre-made coffee and other times I wake up to the smell of my roommate’s stinky overflowing dirty diaper. Some days are filled with rainbows and unicorns and other’s well, we simply stay in our PJs and just cry.

The other day I meet this incredible woman at Michael’s who said to me, “Hey you’re mrsfriastorres from Instagram?” I turned around and said, “what?” She smiled and said “I love your blog and your Instagram posts. I love you as a woman, mother and human being. I love how much I can relate to you and I love how real you are with your words.” She then asked me, “What do you love doing most, like what sets your soul on fire aside from being a mom?” I completely choked and for the very first time, I felt like someone was actually interested in what I like to do and for the first time in a very long time I felt like my old self and I remember exactly why I created this space. Free, Printable Alphabet Flash Cards

I created these fun pretty Alphabet Printables for us to practice letter recognition and mainly because this week we started practicing writing our ABC’s. Flashcards have definitely been an essential tool for our daily lesson plans. They’re visually stimulating and can be used in endless possible ways for various types of activities no matter what grade your little ones are in.

How we use our flashcards:

  • Start by introducing each letter and word. (A is for apple.)
  • Identify the difference between an uppercase and lowercase letter.
  • Divide a word into syllables (ap-ple)
  • Talk about what you see in the pictures (use body motions and sounds.)
  • Use the word in a short simple sentence.  (The Apple is Red.)
  • Most important have fun.

These alphabet cards will work best when printed on card stock but regular paper will be fine too. However, they will last even longer if you get them laminated. If you don’t have a laminator, check your local thrift store, I recently got one for $3.50. You can also check if your local library has one you can use for free.  CONTINUE READING!

Homeschool + Office Tour

Happy New Week Everyone! Before I dive in and share our homeschool routine, details and lesson plans  + free printables. I would like to first share our homeschool room + office. I always dreamed of having my very own nook, a corner all to myself where I can read, write and create anything I wanted. So when we first bought our house I wanted to turn this extra room into a playroom + secondary living room. But when back to school signs were everywhere and Sebastian kept talking about how he wanted to start school too I knew it was time for us to set up a school room of our own at home since he is too young to start actual school in my opinion.

If you been following me on Instagram for a while you already know I love incorporating rustic details in our home decor so the very first thing I wanted to get my hands on was a schoolhouse chalkboard. After searching for days and finding that everything was ridiculously expensive I decided to make my very own, which will soon be up for sale at an affordable price of course on my vintage shop coming to my blog soon. It will come in a variety of sizes including single children slate green chalkboards in two sizes 12 x 12 and 16 x 16 along with other antique pieces. I will list and link below details of each item shown on each photo as much as I can but feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions.  CONTINUE READING!

Homemade body coffee scrub for flawless glowing skin.

If your skin is looking dry, uneven, or gray, you may need to exfoliate it. A few days ago I shared on my Instagram story a bit of how I make my own exfoliating body scrub at home with using only 3 ingredients that may be sitting in your kitchen right now. Exfoliating is a huge part of my skincare routine because my skin is very dry year round and extremely sensitive so sometimes it’s hard to find store-bought skincare items that won’t irritate my skin. img_0150Ever wonder why when you go tanning or self-tan you don’t achieve a clean even tan no matter what you do? or what about your makeup, ever wonder why your foundation sometimes has a bit of a textured feeling, looks a bit flaky and cakey?
